Today, we announced the launch of the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Fund for Innovation in Dance, a new component of our organization and the first of its kind in the dance community. In this challenging time for the performing arts, our goal is to uphold the legacy of ASFB’s pioneering spirit by generating innovative thinking and cultivating collaborative solutions that help ensure the sustainability of dance in our home communities and beyond.
Sadly, we also announced that as part of a longer-term strategic plan for the stability of the organization, our world-renowned dance company—which has not performed since February 2020 and faced existential threats exacerbated by COVID-19—will not return post-pandemic. During our organization’s 30-year history, we have had to pivot and reinvent many times. We remain committed to supporting dance in Aspen and Santa Fe through our network of schools, our Folklorico outreach program, and live performances by visiting dance companies.
